I’d just like to take a minute to tell you about a CD we just purchased at my library. It’s called Perfectly Purple, and it features Eric Litwin and Michael Levi. You may know Mr. Litwin as the author of the first four Pete the Cat books.
I think I was judging the proverbial book by its cover, but when I saw it I didn’t have very high hopes for this CD. Shame on me! I’m so glad I gave it a shot anyway (it had a song about a butterfly I was looking for), because every track is a winner! The songs embody all different styles of music, from reggae to Latin jazz and lots in between. I plan to use “I Love My Mommy” (reggae) in baby storytime next week because I thought it was so cute. The butterfly song I was looking for, “Everybody Wants to be a Butterfly,” is beautiful–the perfect slow-ish song for a dance with scarves at toddler storytime.
Nobody asked me to write this post, and I didn’t get anything for it. Just thought I’d spread the news about a great music CD. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in familiar songs and singers that it’s hard to break out of our habit and find something new. I urge you to give this one a try!
